Meet Hugh, our RYA Cruising Chief Instructor

Hugh began teaching with Seascope France in September 2021.

He currently divides his time working as a commercial skipper and instructor in Antibes with family life in Chepstow on the Welsh border. The historical border of Wales and England in Chepstow is formed by two rivers - the Avon and the Severn which flow out to form the formidable Bristol Channel. It is in these wild and beautiful yet dangerous tidal waters that Hugh learned recreational boating, developed respect for the sea, and understood how to enjoy it safely.  

Working as a Spanish and classical guitarist for special events, Hugh discovered a passion for motorboats. RYA motor cruising courses and charters in the Balearic Islands awakened a desire to pursue a career in yachting industry. With focus and attention to detail, Hugh quickly progressed to instructor qualifications, and  today he delivers RYA Yachtmaster course in Antibes, France. 

Hugh is a passionate and patient teacher who gives practical knowledge to his students to help them succeed in RYA exam.
